Unencroached, Unconstrained, and Uninhibited

- NAS Meridian occupies a spacious, rural property with 8,500 acres
at the Main Base and an additional 4,000 acres at outlying Joe Williams
Field and the SEARAY Target Range Complex;
- NAS Meridian's rural, inland location provides optimal security,
they opportunity for expansion, and freedom from environmental encroachment;
- NAS Meridian and Joe Williams Field have large AICUZ (Air Installation
Compatible Use Zone) restricted zones that protect current and future
operations from encroachment;
- A Navy 2002 computer air space modeling study found no significant
constraints for all studied scenarios, including increased and/ or mixed
use operations, and that NAS Meridian has uninhibited day and night
operational capability; and
- NAS Meridian is a HURRIVAC (hurricane evacuation) site for bases in
the region at risk from severe storms.
